For many women, pregnancy is an exciting time yet often filled with discomforts that practicing prenatal yoga can help alleviate. Many moms continue working throughout their 9 months of being pregnant, while also caring for their families and preparing for the unknowns of labor. Many moms have to do all this while facing the many unusual challenges of their changing bodies. Attending weekly classes can help moms take time out of their busy schedules to integrate the physical and emotional terrain to bring a greater sense of balance in to their lives while also preparing for childbirth.

My Birth Story....
In 2012 I gave birth to my beautiful son Talon. After more than 36 hours of intense birthing at home, I transferred to the hospital and my baby was born via cesarian section. At the time, I was so relieved that I was finally getting to meet my boy, and that the ordeal of labor was over.
My healing path continued to unfold, has taken many years, and is part of what continues to inspire and inform my work as a birth educator mentor and prenatal yoga teacher.
When I was ready to heal from my birth experience, I was led to the work of Pam England, author and founder of Birthing from Within. Pam's work, which is deeply rooted in narrative medicine, story and preparing for birth as a rite of passage, has not only helped me to heal from my own birth trauma, but it has helped me form a more balanced framework to help others prepare for birthing.
The Metaphor of the "Laborinth"
Pam's first book, titled Labyrinth of Birth, is an incredible resources for women. Just as her painting to the left shows, this ancient symbol can act as a map for guiding us through the twists and turns, questions & unknowns of labor and childbirth. Women that have already passed through this threshold can trace back and re-enter their labor story to gather information to learn and heal from their experience.
Not all birth is a traumatic event, yet making space for the changes that happen during this time can help mothers gain greater insight into their own personal growth, informing their lives and infusing it with the wisdom and guidance of these ancient ways.
